Myself, Rushikaa Sureshkumar ,grew up in a family where food wasn't just about flavour, it was about responsibility.

With a family history of diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and other lifestyle-related conditions, my mother and grandmother never believed in taking chances with what we consumed,especially our cooking oil.

For generations, our family has sourced coconuts, groundnuts, and sesame seeds from our ancestral roots near Pollachi and Erode.

The oils are traditionally wood-pressed using the age-old chekku method by people we've known and trusted for years.

We never looked at it as something special. It was simply what our family used every single day.

Then came a moment that changed everything.

During my grandmother's 75th birthday, our home was filled with friends and family. As they enjoyed a simple meal with homemade molaga podi (karam and parupu podi to be exact) one question kept coming back to us.
